The jokes don't fit the rest of the series. Guybrush doesn't feel like Guybrush to me. The most damning thing I can say is that it reminds me more of season 10+ episodes of The Simpsons where it has characters you recognize but they don't act right. Worst of all, it's just not all that funny. It's like if the original Alone in the Dark was on fast-forward. The instant Guybrush bumps into an object, he turns direction and suddenly you're on the wrong side of the screen.
The 3D engine used here just doesn't work like it should. I remember liking it when I played it 20 years ago but it's pretty telling that I remembered the big box art more than the game itself.
